The Big Re-Organise (and Intro!)

Welcome to my main blog! This was originally going to be just a homepage and About Me with links to my various other corners of the internet. However, plans change!

I’m Alex Harlequin; I’m a writer, mostly of speculative fiction, but through the pandemic I branched out into blogging.

Keep Walking

Out of a desire to do something helpful during the crisis, I began Keep Walking (formerly “Life in Lockdown”). I wrote about self-care, did awareness posts of various issues, occasionally commented on current events, and tried my best to build something that anyone could find useful.

My intention was to change the title to “New New Normal” post pandemic, with a shifted focus on societal change. However self-care and emotional support is always important. And, with my own health issues, I’ve been unable to keep the blog going the last few months.

I made the decision recently to close the blog, and archive all the posts over here. I have decided to separate the topics into Keep Walking and New New Normal, and some of the posts I intend to (re-write and) post on Medium to reach a bigger audience. When I’m able, I hope to write new posts on these topics.

Medium

I only recently discovered this, and since I currently don’t earn anything from writing, it seems like a good place to start. I’ve set up an account but have not posted anything yet. Although there’s a paywall, non-subscribers can still view a certain number of premium posts a month.

Other Blogs

Mugful of Stardust, my fiction blog, is almost ready to go live—I have a backlog of drafted posts that need publishing, and I have a few minor tweaks to make. I’m posting short stories on here, as well as updates on my fiction-writing progress and teasers of things to come.

Becoming a Polyglot was conceived as a documentation of my efforts to acquire another language; I have since branched out into other language-related topics. This blog also is not quite ready to go live.

Playground of Verse, my poetry blog, is not likely to be launched for a while as I’ve been struggling to write poetry the last couple of years, and subsequently haven’t had much to post. I’m hoping that will change soon.

PKU Adventures is also on the back-burner, as I haven’t been able to do much on it either because of my health.

World Anvil

Also a recent discovery of mine, as I was looking for software to organise my writing. It’s a worldbuilding platform which enables writers to create encyclopaedias for their fictional settings. I’m currently setting up my time-travel universe Relativity, which has content available for readers now.
